Hey, I'm Marco! I'm running to represent Mississippi Christian University (currently Mississippi College) and its students as the next SGA president. I'm from Oxford, Mississippi, and have been at MC since my freshman year in 2023. Since then, I've seen firsthand the many ways SGA has come alongside students, faculty, and the MC administration to build this place up.  I've also seen the areas where we can do better.

My plan is simple: work together to find common-sense solutions to meet the needs of today's MC students - all for the glory of God

I'm proud to have been a part of the Student Government Association for almost three years.

Here's a brief look at some cool things I've been a part of since joining SGA.

2023

Elected to SGA as a freshman class representative

Served half of a term in the student Senate as one of four elected Freshman class representatives.

Worked on issues including campus cleanliness, study spaces, and expanded dining options.

Took a gap semester to intern with my friends over at TeenPact Leadership Schools.

2024

Nominated to represent the School of Christian Studies and the Arts in the Senate

Led as Chair of the Campus Affairs Committee

Served a full second term in the Senate. Led a team to advance our campus affairs agenda.

Met with campus operations, dining staff, and the executive council to put words into action.

Some 2024 wins:

  • potholes filled,

  • parking simplified,

  • trash cans in every hall,

  • service day established,

  • dining options expanded.

2025-26

Appointed by SGA President Grey Thompson to serve on the Executive Council as SGA's Chief of Staff

Administered student elections (except this one!) and managed key efforts that led to some of our biggest wins to-date.

Some 2025-26 wins:

  • laundry payment restructured,

  • 24 - hour study space initiative enacted,

  • Co-established Code Blue, an engaging student section that packed the stands for our men's and women's basketball teams,

  • and much more to come!

My plan is simple: work together to find common-sense solutions to meet the needs of today's MC students - all for the glory of God.

Here & Now

As Mississippi College turns the corner on its 200th year, excitement for the future continues to build. Still, the next 200 years of Mississippi Christian University depend on the foundation being built here and now.

Advocating for a strong future means starting in the present. As SGA president, I will keep today’s MC students at the forefront of every decision and work to ensure their needs, voices and experiences shape the direction of our campus.

TODAY'S MC STUDENTS

Collaboration not Competition

WORKING TOGETHER

Let’s face it... Today, we are hit with more information than ever. Every week brings new events, opportunities, assignments, and reminders. At times, it can feel like the campus is competing for your attention. In many ways, it is. Your time matters, and countless voices are trying to tell you where to invest it.

The issue is not a lack of opportunity, but a lack of coordination. Too often, we are being pulled in different directions at the same time. Major events overlap, messages compete, and engagement becomes diluted.

We should not be competing for campus involvment—we should be working together to maximize it. By improving communication and coordination across campus, we can create a more unified experience that better serves all MC students and makes every event more impactful.

Common Sense Solutions

Often, I remind myself that some of the best solutions are the simplest. Not every problem is easy to solve, but many can at least be addressed by taking action.

I truly believe that today’s MC students care about making a difference. Real change doesn’t always have to start big—many solutions begin with students who are willing to step up and be heard.

SGA won’t solve everything, but we will try. I plan to lead with a “ball’s in your court” approach—one that amplifies student voices, creates meaningful momentum, and provides decision-makers with credible, relevant insight from their most important stakeholders: you, the students.
